How to Use Affirmations Going Into the New Year

I’m so glad you’re here and hope your Christmas was full of peace and love. I wanted to take this opportunity to share some thoughts I have about the new year and goal setting, and to share some affirmations for you to take into 2022.

With the new year starting this week you have likely been reflecting on the past year, thinking of what changes you’d like to make, setting new goals for the coming months and year, and thinking about what habits you would like to develop. While assessing what changes you’d like to make in your life and where you can improve, don’t be too hard on yourself.

Accept what is and let go of what was. Step into your present self by releasing your past self. Have acceptance and gratitude and then move on.

Be proud of what you’ve accomplished this year and grateful for where you’re at now, even if it’s not where you wish to be in the future. Thank the present moment for the opportunities it has given you to reflect on your past self and to grow an even greater self. And when you’re setting new goals, remember to make your new habits healthy and sustainable. What is truly good for you is sustainable. Do what is best for your long-term wellness.

Actions reflect interest. Be interested in yourself.

Show your body and mind that you care by taking care of them. If you’re not yet in a place of self-love or aren’t sure whether you do actually care, just act like you do! Say things you think someone who does love and respect themself would say and act how you think someone who does care about their physical and mental wellness would act. Only think, say, and do things that support the person you would like to be and the life you are trying to create.

Your thoughts have so much power.

Be mindful and intentional about what thoughts you entertain and allow to stay in your mind. Ask yourself, “does this thought serve me?” and if it doesn’t, let it go. Be positive in your thoughts, especially toward yourself. Tell yourself that you love and believe in yourself, that you are capable and confident, and repeat it several times every day until you actually believe it and accept it as true. And then keep repeating it to remind yourself that it is true, because it really is! You have limitless potential – everything you need to be the person you want to be is already within you.
