According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a manifestation is “a perceptible, external, or visible expression” or “one of the forms that something takes when it appears or occurs.” Which is understandable—you’ll see why in a moment—but to me, a manifestation (noun) is anything you bring into your present physical experience as a result of earlier ideas, feelings, or beliefs. This might be an event, a thing, or a person. anything!
Therefore, to “manifest” (verb) anything is to use your ideas, feelings, or beliefs to bring something into your physical life experience.
What does the Science say About Manifestation?
There is no substantial proof that the law of attraction exists, according to science.
According to proponents, the law of attraction is reinforced by quantum physics theories that claim this “law” includes an energy and vibrational component.
“It’s the ‘like attracts like’ concept at work. What we send out into the cosmos, we receive back, since everything, including thoughts and feelings, carries a vibration,” explains Emma Halley, a spiritual health coach.
“By thinking that we’ve already attained [our wants], we send out a similar frequency and vibration into the cosmos, which attracts it to us.”
However, there is some evidence to back up positive thinking and imagery.
According to a 2005 study, those with positive affect are more likely to be happy and successful.
According to a 2010 study, picturing your aspirations increases the probability of them becoming a reality.
Despite the absence of scientific proof, many people throughout the world believe in and employ the law of attraction in their everyday lives.
The Downsides of the Law of Attraction
There are also significant drawbacks to manifesting your objectives by sending out positive energies.
“A large culture of poisonous optimism has emerged as a result of the law of attraction movement,” argues Halley. Some “have reduced the process to just forcing a good mentality in all situations in order to materialize.”
According to Halley, this can lead to harmful emotional suppression.
“This is risky because it has a genuine risk of invalidating people’s emotional and mental well-being,” she adds. “Negative emotions and poor moods are normal and authentic. You must first be able to recognize them before you can expect to heal them.”
If you wish to apply the law of attraction, you must first identify your feelings. Otherwise, you risk spiritual bypassing, or disregarding the bad and avoiding the effort required for true progress.
Working with the shadow
Whether you believe in the law of attraction or not, ignoring bad emotions in order to affect the outcome of your life is not a healthy practice.
“We might become trapped when we ignore or conceal our actual sentiments,” says Emmy Brunner, a psychotherapist, transformation coach, and author of “Find Your True Voice.”
“It’s critical for us to construct places where we feel seen and heard,” says Brunner. “There is worth in being able to connect with and handle difficult emotions.” It is not about wishing for a life free of shadows.”
How to honor your emotions while using the law of attraction
There are a number of ways you can honor your true feelings while using the law of attraction. They include:
- actively feeling your feelings
- practicing gratitude
- practicing compassion
- consciously shifting your energy
- practicing shadow work
Feel your feelings
The process of sitting with your feelings and simply allowing them to exist may be quite powerful.
According to believers in the law of attraction, this may remove refractory energy that prevents your goals from manifesting.
Turn to gratitude
Gratitude is not about suppressing your feelings or pushing yourself to be happy. It is about appreciating the gift of life and finding some brightness in the gloomy times.
Although it is difficult to be grateful all of the time, you may grow it with frequent practice.
Practice compassion
Beating yourself up for having a poor mood isn’t good for you or anybody else.
Taking time to examine your feelings, allowing yourself to experience what you’re experiencing, or speaking to yourself with love and care are all examples of compassion.
Meditation and sending loving, caring thoughts to others can also be part of it.
Shift your energy with intention
After you’ve completely felt your emotions, you may find it beneficial to intentionally transfer your energy to finish the process.
Consider feeling, tasting, touching, and experiencing everything you wish to bring into your life.
Practice shadow work
Some individuals believe that the law of attraction is all about being always positive.
Many followers of the law of attraction, on the other hand, engage in shadow work, a kind of intense introspection and self-inquiry.
Shadow work can reveal:
- Beliefs that are restrictive
- Emotional stumbling blocks
- Self-repressed aspects
- Intergenerational traumatization
Rather than avoiding or suppressing emotions, this technique entails confronting them. For some, it is a good approach to deal with lows while applying the law of attraction.
By practicing shadow work, you may examine these aspects of yourself more closely and begin to mend them. According to Halley, doing so allows you to “unravel” problematic tales and relieve emotional obstacles that lead to negativity.
Manifesting during lows
These people approach life from a place of gratitude. That perspective brings about feelings of happiness and joy while still making space for everything else.
Why Should You Care?
There are two main reasons why you should care:
1. With a little amount of concentration, you can create anything you desire!
2. If you’re not conscious of how your ideas are shaping your reality, you could materialize things you don’t desire!
You continually create your own life experience, whether you realize it or not. Your life is something you have totally made for yourself. Everything that is happening in your life right now has its roots in previous ideas, emotions, or beliefs that you (consciously or subconsciously) followed.
Your entire existence is basically one immense manifestation.
Everything is made of energy, as scientists have found and demonstrated. Things that appear to be solid are actually made of energy, much as living things, thoughts, and people. Energy permeates everything. This is a fact.
There is an energy field throughout the Universe where all energy exists and interacts with itself. This was dubbed the Zero Point Field by Albert Einstein. Pam Grout refers to this as the Field of Potentiality. Abraham Hicks refers to it as the Vortex. I normally refer to it as simply the Universe. It makes no difference what you name it. What matters is that it exists, that it is completely reliable, and that you may use it to construct whatever your heart wants. You may look at it from a scientific or spiritual standpoint, but the bottom line is that it is a tool for constructing your own world.
The issue is that we frequently underestimate our own potential and manifest by accident! We don’t take the time to grasp how our ideas shape our reality, so we keep thinking the same negative thoughts and feeling the same way about life. It’s like a broken record player, playing negative ideas over and over in our heads, causing the same old crap to appear in our lives again and time again.
But that is going to change since we now understand better.
You only need to be awake and be alert if you want to be, do, or have anything you want. Be aware of the ideas you have, the emotions you experience, and the beliefs you may be hiding. You may create the life of your dreams by thinking positively, remaining in touch with your emotions, and altering any beliefs that no longer serve you. In theory, it’s rather straightforward. but can be difficult to apply (especially the whole controlling your thoughts part).
Manifestation is a creative process. Whatever we focus on and where we focus increases.
Manifesting is the most enjoyable and creative method for me to spend my time and energy. Naturally, we are all creators, and I believe our entire job on this planet is to create an experience that we like. We are creators because God (the Universe/Source Energy/whatever higher force you believe in) created us as an extension of Himself, and God is the ultimate creator! We are born with the same strength and capacity.
Although manifestation appears to be some type of witchcraft, it is actually rather easy. You receive what you concentrate on. I simply focus on what I want in life, and the Universe conspires to help me attain it. Easy.
Takeaway
When you practice the law of attraction, you may feel forced to be positive and optimistic all of the time.
However, it is impossible to remain joyful all of the time, and attempting to do so might be detrimental to your emotional health.
Exploring negative emotions and using them to work through limiting beliefs and previous scars may be good if you’re applying the law of attraction.
In the end, we’re all just people. We all feel the whole range of emotions. Halley’s counsel is to start with compassion and validation of your feelings.
After you’ve done this, you could find yourself refreshed and ready to start manifesting your objectives.
